no cuts made

so so, this was my sunday. i wanted to cut the kitchen tiles. first lay them out on the kitchen floor, plan, draw and then cut.
i thought i could start in the afternoon. then there was my sweet husband, that wanted a haircut.
an our later the little boy was up from his nap and needed to eat. hmmmmmm. it took forever until i finally got started. the "boys" were playing soccer outside and i was planning, calculating and laying all the tiles out on the floor. it didn`t even take that much time, maybe three hours.

then it was time to make some dinner for my hungry family and late at night i started to cut the tiles with this horrible manual cutter i had borrowed from work. to be honest: i made one "cut" and gave up.
didn`t work at all. it just scratched the tiles.
now my plan is to borrow the electric cutter from work on friday:)

with new hope! haha!
have a beautiful day!

designer tip no. 2

i think having a plan is a good thing. so when you want to redecorate a room, it`s so worth it to draw the room first. invest in a triangular architects ruler with scales like 1:20, 1:50 and 1:100. you can get it feks at amazon.com.
draw a plan in 1:50 of your room as if you look from the ceiling to the floor.
start with the walls, then put windows, doors and things like chimneys and other features that you can`t or don`t want to move.

in the end make little pieces of paper for the furniture with the correct measurements.
now you can play with that, moving the furniture around and finding the best solution.
enjoy!

open house

beautiful weather again today!
we went to look at this "farm" from 1898 that is for sale. loads of potential, even room for a BIG dog.
actually, we`re not moving that soon, but it never hurts to look at something interesting.
the kids loved it and were running everywhere while my man was asking the realtor lady difficult questions;) haha
afterwards it was the først barbeque of the season for us...nice to be back on the deck :)

take a look:

designer tip no. 1

when you are planning to redecorate a room or starting from scratch, think concept.
use for example a (professional) photo of any kind you like. personally i like to use nature photos.
use all the colors in that picture for your room in about the same amount as in the picture et voila you will get a beautiful, exiting room that is balanced. you don`t need to be an artist or designer to do that;)
have fun!!!

Organizing clutter in my daughters room

time just flyes... already june.
i`m enjoying the sunshine, we haven`t had much of that this year. hungry for sun;)
but to my post: after we bought shelves with drawers for her toys i thought we were fine for a while. but no. new toys and books came into the house, so i had to think of something new.
here my solution with before and after pictures. have a sunny day:)
